What is Modern Slavery?

Modern Slavery is an overarching term for a complex, evolving and often hidden type of employment that encompasses forced and compulsory labour, and human trafficking. It exists in both developing and developed countries, and is a serious crime that violates human rights. Victims are forced, threatened or deceived into situations of subjugation, degradation and control which undermine their personal identity and sense of self.

Docsun's Code of Conduct Policy

We constantly update our knowledge and awareness of human wellness and wellbeing according to the industrial regulations and standards. We carefully consider our suppliers who share the same values of accountability, transparency and sustainability as us. We apply the principles to our own business operations to ensure that our products are manufactured in a socially ethical way.

Our Code of Conduct policy is based on the ETI base code which ensures that,

  • Employment is freely chosen

  • Working conditions are safe and hygienic

  • Living wages paid – to enable a standard of living that allows food, housing, education, healthcare

  • Working hours are not excessive

  • No discrimination practiced

  • Regular employment provided

  • Slave labour, child labour and prison labour are forbidden

  • No harsh or inhumane treatment allowed

(ETI - Ethical Trading Initiative, founded on the conventions of the International Labour Organisation (ILO) and is an internationally recognised code of labour practice. It is used by ETI members and others to drive improvements in working conditions around the world. https://www.ethicaltrade.org/eti-base-code)

Due Diligence

We pay fair wages, overtime, and legally mandated benefits in accordance with applicable laws of the countries in which we operate. Since the business launched in 2020, our due diligence approach has involved risk-assessment, supply chain mapping, monitoring, engaging workers directly, training, and collaboration. All supplier partners must adhere to our Code of Conduct which details our expectations to ensure safe and fair working environments and practices within our supply chain.

Apart from our own workshop, we have also mapped 100% of our Tier1 factories that manufacture all our products. It is vital that we have transparency within our factories by knowing where our product comes from and understanding ‘who made our product’ at every level of our supply chain.

Risk Assessment

Combining with our practices as well as the ETI Human Rights Due Diligence Framework, we assess if there are any risks to workers’ rights within our supply chain. If we believe so, we engage with them further, going ‘beyond audit’ through more in-depth assessments or through training programs.

Training

Our senior management is intimately involved in developing, improving and expanding our internal and third-party mechanisms to mitigate the risk of forced labour and human trafficking in both our and third party's supply chain.

We conduct training for our and our suppliers' employees, including the procurement team, on the suppliers’ Code of Conduct, labour rights, safe working conditions and corporate social responsibility.
