Sustainability & Impact

Sustainability is a broad term that refers to the capacity to maintain or support an activity or process over the long term. It is often referred to as meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.

Sustainability involves a balanced approach to economic activity, environmental responsibility, and societal impact. Our goal of sustainability is to balance these three pillars in order to create systems and societies that are resilient and capable of enduring over time.

  • Environmental Sustainability: This involves maintaining the quality and longevity of natural ecosystems and reducing the environmental impact of human activities. Specialised in silk and wool, we are focusing on using nature fabrics which can be discomposed quickly with little negative impact to the environment. We also provide paper envelope and carton box packaging to all our client through the long term cooperation with our packaging suppliers.

  • Economic Sustainability: This refers to practices that support long-term economic growth without negatively impacting social, environmental, and cultural aspects of the community. Economic sustainability involves using resources efficiently, creating jobs, and maintaining a healthy trade balance. For example, because the silk is very expensive, we often face the enquiries from our client to bring the cost down. If the synthetic fabrics are used in our product, we always choose or persuade our clients to use the good quality ones with longer usage life.

  • Social Sustainability: This refers to the idea that future generations should have the same or better quality of life as the current generation. It involves maintaining and improving social well-being, justice, and equality, promoting good governance, and ensuring that the needs of all individuals are met. In Docsun, we are a small but experienced team with most of whom are ladies. We are very proud that we have built a happy yet efficient atmosphere in our workplace by understanding and helping each other to balance the work and family.

Our Future Commitment

Climate change is one of the biggest issues facing our planet and we have to understand our footprint in order to reduce the impact. We aim to follow the lifecycle of our product taking accountability for responsible practices throughout our supply chain from growing textile fibres, manufacturing, packaging, shipping, garment care and recycling. We will invest in programs that replace resources or educate producers and plan to set out a roadmap to show how we are progressing.

Actions that we’ve started and will continually improve are,

  • Introduce and use more sustainable fabrics across all ranges where quality allows

  • Use natural and recyclable materials

  • Improve product quality and leverage longer life

  • Reduce volume and material waste in packaging

  • Use more FCS recyclable paper and card

  • Plastic usage has been reduced or removed by using more recycled/recyclable plastic.

  • Improve package methods including custom designed boxes to reduce cardboard usage.

  • Continue improvements to our updated Code of Conduct in line with legal and environmental standards.
